PICKING A TOPIC

Picking a topic to write your blog about is fairly important. You want your blog to be something that you can continue to post new topics and ideas and still have it all related under one general topic. The topic for my blog is learning how to "make money while blogging" so every one of my posts in this blog will be about that one topic.

When picking a topic to write blog about, you should pick a topic that you are interested in. This will make it easier for you to continue to add new content to your blog. You don't want to write a blog about a topic, then abondon that blog and think that it will magically make money. If you choose to write about a topic that does not interest you, then you will have a hard time building a successful blog.

Certain topics pay higher than others. Therefore you will want to research topics to find one that pays decent per clicked ad yet one that you are still interested in. You can go to this website to see a list of the top paying keywords.

There are other tools that you can use to help narrow down a high paying topic that interests you. Yahoo's Overture.com is a usefull resource tool.

Yahoo's Keyword Selector Tool will show you how many times a people searched for cerain topic last month. This way you can see which topics will generate the most traffic.

Yahoo also has a View Bids feature that lets you view the highest bids for any given keyword. This way you know that you will be writing about a topic that will generate traffic and money.

WRITING YOUR CONTENT

Once you decide what topic will blog about, you need to write your content so that you can start to make money online. The best way to start writing your content is to determine what your keywords are. Your keywords are going to be the main points about your topic that you are going to base your blog writings about. You can research which keywords generate the most traffic here.

There is no specific limit on the number of keywords that you can use. However, you can have too many. When writing your blog, you will want to reuse your keywords often to help with getting your page ranked high in the search engines. I will be writing a section in the near future about optimization of your blog so that you can get it ranked in Google and other search engines.

It is important that you don’t have too little content in your blog otherwise Google Adsense will display advertisements unrelated to your blog. That is another reason that you want to make referece to your keywords often, that way your advertisements will be relevant to your site.

SIGN UP FOR GOOGLE ADSENSE

You need to sign up for a FREE Google Adsense account (The link in the top left corner). Google Adsense will be your advertisement host and will be who your checks come from. Signing up is very easy to do and requires you to fill out information so that you can begin getting paid.

The best part is that its FREE and it's Google. You can't go wrong. You can rest assured that Google is going to get you your paycheck.

Click on the link in the left hand corner to sign up for your Google Adsense account.

SIGN UP FOR BLOGGER.COM

At some point you will want to sign up for a FREE blogger.com account. Blogger.com makes it easy for a novice who knows nothing about website design to add content and Google Adsense so that you can make money online while working from home.

Once you enter your information, you will have to log into your FREE blogger.com account. Log in with your username and password and you are ready to start blogging. You can create a personal profile if you would like so that your whoever views your site can see who the mastermind behind the work is or leave your profile blank.

SET UP YOUR BLOGGER.COM ACCOUNT

After you have signed up for Blogger.com and Google Adsense, you need to create your blog. Go to your blogger.com account and click on "Create a Blog". Now you will need to pick a title for your blog. You should title your blog according to what your content is about. Also pick a URL address for your blog and click continue. Next pick a template for your site and you are ready to start posting your content and making money online, and all of this is FREE.

There are a few options that you will want to activate to optimize your website exposure. Under the "Settings" tab you will open a few other options.

Select "Basic", you can create a description for your blog. You want to write your description and include as many keywords as you can. Also make sure that the box next to "Add your blog to our listings?" is marked YES, and then save.

Next click on the "Publishing" link. Make sure that the box next to "Notify Weblogs" is marked YES, and then click save.

After you change the settings, you will want to add your Google Adsense ads. Hopefully you have already posted a topic or two. Then go to the link that says "Template". Under template you will see a link for "Adsense". Select Google Adsense and pick the format that you like best. There are proven ways to add the advertisments, including color, location, etc. and I will be discussing that in the near future. After selecting your Google Adsense layout, click "Save" and then "Publish" your blog.

You are now set up to make money online and it didn't cost you a cent. 100% FREE. Make sure that you do not fraudulantly click on the advertisements on your blog. It is against Google's policy for obvious reasons and they will delete your account if they suspect fraud!
